I am not a strong
writer, I remember when I was in elementary school my reading and writing
teacher explained that there is no perfect process for thinking and writing,
the only thing you can perfect is how the reader reads your thoughts, fears,
and imagination.  That has always stuck
with me through my school years and in writing papers. My pre-writing style is
probably different than yours or it could be the same. I throw out words that
support my title depending on my topic, I start jotting down different
introductions, each starting with different words but meaning and telling the
same story. After I get an intro I think about my conclusion or closing
statement, and repeat the process of have several different versions of the ending.
Once I have those completed I can just type, type out my thoughts, my memories,
or my feelings. Touching the main points of the story but the bulk of the story
is fun for me to just blurt out what is running through my mind. Finally I have
to piece together this puzzle of words I have created; this is the fun part I get
to play with what I wrote and bring out this beautiful story that I can mix and
match how I want it to sound and what I want to be important. I know some
people map their writing, or makes lists of topics or many other types of
pre-writing. I have tried them all, but when I have to do it that way I am unable
to have fun with my writing. To me that is what writing is about; it’s about
fun with communication.
Britt, excellent posts so far--you're doing a good job of engaging the texts and ideas of the class. I look forward to reading more!
